PUBLIC TALK: The Noongar women dollmakers of Narrogin at 20 years Fri, 22 Nov 2013 13:00 - Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, UWA Nalda Seares Join us to hear textile artist Nalda Searles share her knowledge of the Narrogin dollmakers, on Friday 22 November 2013, 1pm at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery. Nalda Seares will talk about Joyce Winsley’s sculptures in Guildford grass, drawing from her 20 years of engagement with the Narrogin community and her extensive experience working with textiles and natural materials. Searles, with Pantjiti Mary Mclean, conducted the first doll making workshops in Narrogin in the early 1990s and since then has seen the practice flourish into a vibrant local tradition.
