Inspiration for my current work started in 2008 travelling along the Via Emilia daily; experiencing the Land, it’s deep traditions, identity, cultivation and the valleys of Parma and Piacenza.
The process of photography and observation took 2 1/2 years before the time came to paint.
And that process threw up a new way of painting: immediacy… like I used to paint at 18.
With that came the immediate sensation of URGE. I had not felt that since 1979. I am a returning painter after a creative career that now gives way to my first calling.
It’s been a long journey.
