    Gangnam Style could be UK’s first K-pop number one

    South Korean pop star Psy recently appeared on TV in the USChances are by now you’ll either have seen, or know someone who has seen, the video for Psy’s track Gangnam Style.

    That’s because since its release in mid-July it’s been clicked on more than 220 million times. Right now, it’s racking up an average of 10 million new views each day.

    It’s a colourful, over-the-top, hilarious pastiche of commercial pop videos and sees Psy debut his, now internationally famous, “horse riding dance”.

    If the accompanying song continues its ascent, it could become the first ever K-Pop (Korean-pop) track to hit number one in UK chart history, says the official charts company.

    Back story

    Back home in South Korea, 34-year-old Psy, is already an established artist. Six albums into his career, he’s been singing for 12 years.

    Britney Spears, Simon Cowell and PsyPsy recently appeared on a US chat show with Britney Spears and Simon CowellBut for this latest release he decided to poke fun at an affluent and fashionable district in Korean capital city Seoul – Gangnam.

    The new Dishoom is really a spectacular blend of rich, quirky on retro trend design and slick gastronomy.

    In the heart of London this hand painted window set is a stunner with the original vintage 1920’s Bombay font extracted by Nick Garrett from an vintage cafe sign (below) and embellished into it’s new typographic context. Some of the new characters I created taking reference from the original but launching into the quirky eccentric.

    Double trouble

    But it’s been really tough… arriving on site to hand paint the glass the dimensions supplied were all slightly out affecting one lay out and the windows were 25mm double glazed!
